Think I’ve found my new LBS. Been coming here for a few things lately (repair work and product purchases) and have always found interactions with staff to be pleasant and professional. Also, met the owner today and was provided top-notch customer care.
Highly recommended.
Most of the employees here are very friendly. But they don't have a good boss. The boss is very rude and has a discriminatory attitude when communicating with clients. They are unwilling to provide any specialized warranty services, and when I asked if I could waive the cost, the boss actually mocked me if I wanted them to repair my bike for free. When I purchased a bicycle, they didn't provide me with any after-sales service items, so I was very disappointed. Also, because my bicycle is not very expensive, I clearly feel their differential treatment. I want to say that they have a clear understanding of how much profit they make in repairing and promoting parts, and doing business is really heartless.
I feel compelled to address the comments made by the store owner. I want to emphasize that I have never disregarded any explanations provided by them, and the truth is clear about who is being truthful. The service manager took the time to patiently explain the policies he saw, and I reciprocated by sharing my perspectives. That's why I can affirm that most of the store staff are indeed friendly. Regrettably, a negative experience arises with the owner's involvement, as it introduces an unsettling aura of contempt and discrimination. When I elaborated on my understanding of the matter, the owner's stance even shifted, asking if I expected them to repair my car for free. It's evident that such an assumption is far from my intention.
My car's cost was merely $849 before taxes, and on the day of purchase, their salesperson failed to explain any insurance aspects, including post-sale services and my rights. This lapse in their work process is undeniable, and as a bicycle shop, they should not make any insurance claims when customers file them. I personally verified the policies on the official website, despite the boss's assertion of their clarity. It's apparent that they possess only a vague understanding of this domain. My hope was for them to offer a price reduction, given the widespread awareness of the considerable profits they reap from these relatively modest accessories. They even deviated from the prices listed on the official website, which underscores the fundamental discrepancy between the bicycle store's purchase price and the customer's.
In contrast, I can genuinely state that even if the final price remains unaltered, I would still opt to pay for repairs if the shop owner's attitude were friendly. Unfortunately, the owner's deplorable and discriminatory behavior has provoked my anger. Conversely, the neighboring Giant store provided me with a warm welcome from their manager. Upon learning about my experience, they generously extended a 15% discount. I want to emphasize that, given a choice between paying nearly $600 for repairs, I would rather contribute to a store that upholds excellent sales service rather than contribute to a shop overseen by a prejudiced and discourteous owner.
Fantastic, "white glove" service.
I had a carbon bike in need of a minor frame repair late last season and The Cyclery handled *everything* - disassembly, shipping frame to EXOR in Montreal, and reassembly on arrival. Things could not have gone smoother and the bike continues to ride like a dream a season later.
I've had excellent luck with other sales and service visits as well and it seems I learn something new about helmets, bikes, or accessories every time I come in. On my latest trip, I learned how to properly size and adjust a helmet, something you'd think I'd know from cycling for the last 40 years but I still picked up new info, making my helmet much more comfortable without compromising safety.
Happy to recommend The Cyclery and will continue to give them my business. Bonus: easy access via #6 or #7 bus, lots of low-traffic streets around so you can get there by bike without fighting traffic, and if you're driving, there's parking along Bank Street, as well as side streets.
Evan helped my colleague and I purchase a pair of Body Geometry Specialized branded spin shoes (torch 1.0 black for me, and torch 2.0 rocket red for my colleague). Great value for the shoes, was the most affordable in all of Ottawa. Evan was even kind enough to install the delta cleats to each pair after we purchased. Evan provided fantastic service, and was super knowledgable, friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend Cyclery for your biking swag needs, plz be sure to request Evan as your sales rep!
I can't say enough about the great staff at The Cyclery. Today I dropped in with a bottle cage bolt issue and John and Jeremy went out of there way to correct this bolt issue . It took awhile for John to fix it but I couldn't be more happy . Did not have to make another trip . Thanks John 😊. The owner Vince is outstanding and always goes above and beyond to take care of everyone. Highly recommend this Bike Shop
Fantastic customer service. They took care of an issue with my gravel tires even though it was all my fault. I offered to pay some kind of fee but they would not accept it.
Highly recommend this bike shop!
When in looking for a low cost replacement parts for an older kids bike. The person in the back was able to repair the crank shaft at no cost and they spent time finding kid's pedals. Great service. Would definitely recommend.
First time travelling with my bike by plane and I brought it to the Cyclery to get it boxed for the flight; the mechanics did an absolutely fantastic job packing it up with care and a lot of attention to detail. The mechanic who built my bike back up, upon arrival overseas, was very impressed with the packing job too. I highly recommend The Cyclery for your bike needs - great service and wonderful staff!!
